eCommerce

E-commerce is an innovative process that entails “buying and selling of products through websites on the internet” instead of the normal shopping-at-the-store offline. Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, is trading in products or services using computer networks, such as the Internet. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet marketing and online transaction processing. E-commerce is widely considered the buying and selling of products over the internet, but any transaction that is completed solely through electronic measures can be considered e-commerce. It includes activities such as order entry, transaction processing, payment, authentication, inventory control, order fulfillment, and customer support. E-commerce (electronic-commerce) refers to business over the Internet. Web sites such as Amazon.com and eBay are e-commerce sites. eCommerce is a type of business model, or segment of a larger business model, that enables a firm or individual to conduct business over an electronic network, typically the internet. Almost any product or service can be offered via eCommerce, from books and music to financial services and plane tickets.
